When I decided to post one story a day, I did however feared about what I would write when I run out of things to say, or when I don’t have a specific topic to write about. But like the person I am, I tried to focus and ponder on things at hand, on aspects I could control than those which were outside my purview.

The fact that I might run out of things to talk about might have influenced this sort of writer’s block I have had that made me reluctant to write about anything for the past couple of weeks.

To overcome this writer’s block I did however came across a book called The technique of producing Ideasby advertising executive James Webb Young, although a quick read, I actually found some profound ideas which struck me as insightful.

Don’t be Original- Creative thinking relies on the past a lot, old ideas and old elements become the basis of new discoveries and inventions.

Have it this way, Television developed by John Logie Baird in Spetember, 1927 has gone through several breakthroughs now to become the product it is today.

The Internal Combustion Engine developed by Étienne Lenoir in 1858 became the basis of petrol cars that run today, which with eventual developments and breakthroughs have become the more efficient, faster and fuel efficient than their archaic counterparts.

This rule also follow through in movies developed/adapted from novels, fables and mythological tales.

There are however outliers in this idea as well.

Original ideas written overtime, be it movies, trilogies or even new discoveries or inventions.

Some inventions and discoveries however became possible as an outcome of the convenience in standard knowledge constructed by the old original ideas existing from the time before.

Don’t push optimization- Being optimistic is a master key, In this era everything is possible to achieve, whether it be attaining a particular weight, gaining knowledge or even developing content.

The amount of resources your phone has access to nowadays is more than the resources available to the biggest minds of the early twentieth century.

Don’t put a direct focus on it- In this stage, make absolutely no direct effort on the idea. By doing this, you are putting the problem at hand in your unconscious mind which is passively engaged in figuring out a solution or getting the needed answer.

I still think that originality is paramount and to attain that the need to think out of the box is necessary as well. But stepping back and consuming pre exisiting content can indeed be helpful.
